Our mission is to support and strengthen the families of our community by providing a range of culturally appropriate and effective services through our various dedicated units.

Established to address the holistic needs of our community, the CFS department oversees four key portfolios: Early Childhood Development, Language and Culture, Recreation, and Education.

We are committed to the well-being of our children, youth, and families, ensuring they have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.

OUR VOICE

We are committed to ensuring that the voices of our community are heard and represented in all areas of education. Our Education Coordinator sits on the board of the EALEA, which stands for Enhancement Agreement, a working agreement between the school district, the local indigenous community, and the Ministry.

This agreement is a government initiative that aims to enhance educational services and achieve equity in education for indigenous students. Our Education Coordinator's role on the board is to advocate for the needs and interests of our community, ensuring that our perspectives are considered when making important decisions.

By having a representative on the Aboriginal Advisory Council, we are able to play an active role in shaping the educational experiences of our students and promoting positive change within the education system. We are proud to have our Education Coordinator serving on this board and representing our community with dedication and commitment.

Our collaboration with SD 84 involves a special education and aboriginal worker, an indigenous Vice Principal, and an MMFN educator. They work together to review and revise the curriculum, keeping in mind the unique needs of our students. We are proud of our team of professionals dedicated to ensuring that our students receive the best possible education and actively participate in shaping their educational experiences.

WE CELEBRATE OUR YOUTH

We are proud of our youth and their accomplishments. We celebrate our young people by acknowledging their efforts and achievements in the education system. For high school students, we provide a student allowance to recognize that they are doing their best as citizens within the school system.

We also hold an annual education celebration to honour our students. This special event includes a dinner and invites special guests to speak on their successes, inspiring and encouraging our students to pursue further education as a gateway to more employment opportunities and success in life.

Through these celebrations and recognition of our youth, we hope to instil a sense of pride and motivation to help them achieve their goals and become leaders within our community. At Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation, we believe in supporting and uplifting our youth to create a brighter and better future for all.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe the young generation is the key to a better future for their communities and the world. We firmly believe that they will become future leaders and make valuable contributions to civilization on a global scale.

For our daycare and preschool programs, we acknowledge the importance of family in early childhood education. Families are the first teachers, and our programs are designed to foster and strengthen the relationship between families and our educational services. We strive to create a supportive and nurturing environment for our youngest learners, providing them with the tools and resources they need to develop and grow into successful and happy individuals.
