Yuquot

Yuquot, also known as Friendly Cove, is a historic site on Nootka Island in British Columbia, within the traditional territory of the Mowachaht/Muchalaht Nation. It holds great significance as the place where the first contact between Indigenous peoples and Europeans occurred in the late 18th century.

The place names on this map highlight the profound connection Mowachaht and Muchalaht people have with their lands and waters. Reflecting a history that spans over 4,000 years to the time of the Creator, these names represent the deep-rooted heritage of the Mowachaht and Muchalaht, who have lived on these lands for countless generations. Their rich legacy is preserved in the historic village of Yuquot.

We are thrilled to announce that the renovations at Baymont Inn & Suites by Wyndham are complete, and our hotel is now open and ready to welcome guests. Our upgraded 44-room hotel has been elevated from a 2-star status to a 3-star hotel under the prestigious Wyndham Baymont brand, transitioning from the previous Gold River Chalet banner.
