Health & Safety

Welcome to the Department of Health and Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Our dedicated team is responsible for implementing and managing the comprehensive health and safety program for the MMFN and its partners, including the community of Yuquot.

We work collaboratively with external organizations such as WorkSafeBC, FNESS, RCMP, Ambulance and Fire Departments, SRD, Village of Gold River, Mid Island Emergency Radio Communications Team, and NTC to ensure the well-being and safety of our community.

Our department plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining safety protocols and procedures that protect our community members at MMFN and Yuquot. We liaise closely with the community to identify and implement necessary processes that keep everyone safe and secure. Training and orientation programs are available to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills required for health and safety practices and emergency response.

We are proud to be fully compliant with WorkSafeBC processes and regulations, ensuring that all our operations at MMFN and Yuquot meet the highest safety standards. At the Department of Health and Safety and Emergency Preparedness, our top priority is the well-being of our community, and we are committed to creating a safe environment for all.

Welcome to the MMFN Human Resources Department.

We're proud to say that at our organization, we prioritize the well-being and happiness of our employees. That's why we provide a casual, comfortable work atmosphere promoting a healthy work-life balance. Our full-time schedule consists of only 63 hours, rather than the standard 80 hours, giving our employees more time to focus on their personal lives and recharge outside of work.

In addition, we work short-shift Fridays, allowing employees to leave after only 3.5 hours and enjoy an early start to their weekend. We believe that a relaxed and comfortable work environment leads to happier and more productive employees, and we're committed to ensuring our team feels supported and valued every day.

FINANCE DEPARTMENT

The Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation Finance Department is dedicated to providing accurate and transparent accounting practices and procedures to the Council of Chiefs and the Membership. We are committed to upholding policies and procedures that ensure accountability to the COC and the Membership.

Chief Finance Officer Theona Lewis leads our experienced and dedicated team, including Sr Finance Clerk Betty Frame and Finance Clerk Laureen Amos, who work closely to ensure that all financial processes are accurate, transparent, and compliant with all relevant policies and regulations.

Our goal is to provide the Council of Chiefs and the Membership with the financial information and support they need to make informed decisions and ensure the long-term financial health of the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation.
